It is Jaden's first day at a new school and nobody is sitting with them at lunch. Will David notice — and will he help?
Page 1 — The First Day
It was Jaden's very first day at the new school. At lunchtime, everyone else already had a friend to sit with. Jaden stood at the edge of the hall holding a tray, not knowing where to go.
Page 2 — David Notices
David was eating with his friends when he looked up and spotted Jaden standing near the door. Jaden's shoulders were low and eyes were on the floor.
Page 3 — The Wave
David smiled and waved his arm high. Jaden looked up, surprised, and pointed at themselves as if to say "me?" David nodded with a big grin.
David says: "Hey! There's a free seat right here. Come and sit with us!"
Page 4 — Lunch Together
Jaden walked over and sat down. Jaden was introduced to everyone at the table. Someone told a silly joke about a banana and Jaden laughed out loud — the first real laugh of the whole day.
Page 5 — See You Tomorrow
At the end of the day, Jaden found David by the school gate. Jaden's face was glowing.
Jaden says: "Thank you for letting me sit with you today. I was really scared this morning. You made it so much better."
