Cookie Policy
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or to make them work more efficiently. This policy explains how Play and Learn with David uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies.
The Cookies We Use
We use only essential cookies โ those strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested. We do not use optional, analytics, advertising, or social media cookies.
Session Authentication Cookie
When you log in, we set a session cookie that keeps you authenticated during your visit. This cookie contains a random session identifier and no personal data. It expires when you close your browser or log out explicitly.
Browser localStorage (Not a Cookie)
We use your browser's localStorage for two purposes that are essential to the app's function:
- PWA / app settings: if you install Play and Learn with David as a web app, your installation preference is remembered in localStorage so you are not shown the install prompt repeatedly.
- Offline game progress cache: game progress may be temporarily cached in localStorage to prevent data loss if your internet connection drops briefly.
Neither of these uses tracks you across websites or builds a profile of your behaviour.
Cookies We Do NOT Use
- Google Analytics or any other analytics service.
- Advertising or retargeting cookies.
- Social media tracking pixels (Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, etc.).
- Third-party profiling or fingerprinting scripts.
Third-Party Cookies
When you make a payment, you are briefly redirected to Stripe's or PayPal's payment pages. These third parties may set their own cookies on their domain for fraud prevention and session management. These cookies are governed by their own privacy policies:
These third-party cookies are only set on their own domains, not on Play and Learn with David.
How to Manage Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View cookies currently stored on your device.
- Block all or specific cookies.
- Delete cookies when you close the browser.
Please note that blocking the session cookie will prevent you from logging in, as it is essential for authentication.
No Opt-Out Mechanism Required
Because we use only strictly necessary cookies, we are not required by law (including GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive, or CCPA) to obtain your prior consent before placing these cookies. We display a cookie information banner as a matter of transparency.
Changes to This Policy
If we introduce any new cookies or change our approach, this policy will be updated and the "Last reviewed" date will be changed.
